Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sarah Paulson revealed that Matthew Perry wouldn’t kiss her at a celebrity get-together. The rejection was harsh, and now fans want to know why Matthew avoided locking lips with the American Horror Story actress.

Sarah told Jimmy Kimmel that she was invited to a star-studded “makeout” party by the late Carrie Fisher. The event was held at Gore Vidal‘s home, making it a high-profile get-together indeed.

Sarah explained that there wasn’t much making out going on at this makeout party. “I didn’t see anyone make out, but there was a hat with names in it, and you were supposed to make out with whomever you pulled out of the hat,” Sarah explained on the late-night talk show. “Matthew Perry pulled my name out of the hat, and then promptly left the room.”

But why did he refuse to kiss the American Horror Story star? “He was like, ‘Oh, well…’ And he was like, ‘I got you.’ And I was like, ‘Uh, well let’s kiss.’ And he was like, ‘No.’” Sarah Paulson continued, “But then we ended up playing romantic partners years later on a show called Studio 60, and I got my kiss. I got several kisses. And boy did he regret not taking me up on it back at Gore Vidal’s makeout party.”

Matthew Perry didn’t kiss Sarah because that would have been a bit awkward for the pair, especially since they knew each other through a mutual friend. Although it’s no skin off Sarah’s back that she never got the kiss at that party, it would have been a sexy smooch. Years later, when they were cast as steamy romantic partners on the hit dramedy Studio 60, and Sarah and Matthew finally locked lips.

Though the rejection was more calculated than it was cold, it’s a bit odd that Sarah would end up at a makeout party. How does one end up at one anyway?

Well, Sarah was tied to Carrie, whom she met at a different – non-makeout- party. Each of them showed up without a date, Carrie, of course, had glitter in her hair. The two hit it off which so Carrie invited Sarah to another party after they left. Hence, the infamous “Make Out” Party.

Matthew Perry was a star on America’s hit sitcom, Friends where he played Chandler Bing. While he’s had many romantic relationships throughout the years, he has never been married. Earlier this month, he and ex-fiance, Molly Hurwitz, called off his first and only engagement. The announcement of their split came after Friends: The Reunion aired on May 27th.

As for Sarah, she’s had quite the career. From American Horror Story to a long list of blockbuster movies, Sarah Paulson has become a household name. She’s been with her current partner, Holland Taylor, since 2015. Sarah accidentally came out to the world after she kissed her then-partner Cherry Jones when she won a Tony back in 2005.

Sarah and her now-partner first met in 2005 when she was still dating Cherry. Now that the pair has been public for nearly six years, it’s been easier for them to open up about their relationship. Recently, Sarah talked about their unique living arrangements since Covid-19 became prevalent in the United States.

This past Monday, Jimmy Kimmel welcomed back his first live studio audience. This was his first fully live show since the Covid-19 lockdown began in March 2020. During her interview with Jimmy last night, Sarah wore a gorgeous Cecilie Bahnsen dress with pearl-studded heels to match.
