Sheree Zampino, Will Smith’s ex-wife, posed with the Best Actor winner Sunday night after the controversial incident between the King Richard star and comedian Chris Rock. Smiling together, the two appeared to maintain a positive relationship, with Sheree posting a photo on Instagram. She watched the ceremony alongside Jada Pinkett Smith‘s mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

“Epic Night! Congratulations again – when 1 wins we all win! #family1st,” she wrote as she held Will Smith’s Oscar next to her former husband.

Will Smith and Sheree Zampino were married briefly between 1992 and 1995 and share one son together, 29-year-old actor Trey Smith. After their divorce, Will quickly began a relationship with Jada, and they were married in December 1997 while she was pregnant with their son, Jaden Smith. Jaden, now 23, also has a sister, Willow, who is 21.

Sheree previously starred in early 2000s films such as Our Journey and When the Time Comes before launching the skincare company WHOOP ASH body butter. She also runs her own online clothing boutique where she sells jewelry and sunglasses.

Originally born in Schenectady, New York, Sheree recently moved to Beverly Hills, Ca., where she plans to join the upcoming cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. At just 4-foot-11, the 54-year-old is diminutive in stature, but not personality.

She always wanted to join RHOBH, according to Entertainment Tonight, and is excited to have more of a role as Garcelle Beauvais’ friend. Sheree was also delighted to be the second black female cast member for the long-running reality series.

“Yes, it is something,” she said, “and there’s more to come.”

Sheree Zampino also expressed interest in doing a fourth season of Hollywood Exes, a VH1 reality show that followed Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife Nicole, Prince’s ex-wife Mayte Garcia, baseball player Josie Canseco’s ex-wife Jessica, R. Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea, and Sheree herself, though she was recently divorced to former NFL player Terrell Fletcher at the time.

Appearing on his wife’s Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, Will Smith once called his split with Sheree “the worst thing in my adult life,” adding that his son Trey was just a toddler at the time and that it was “very difficult.”

“Divorce was the ultimate failure for me,” the actor continued, in conversation with his current-wife Jada Pinkett Smith. “I’ve been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don’t think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother.”

Sheree had similar words to say about the tumultuous time in their marriage, blaming their inexperience for the split.

“Our marriage ended because we were so young,” she told Hollywood Life just this past December. “It’s a lot of responsibility. Marriage isn’t easy. Especially at that age.”

Though Sheree and Jada did not get along at first, Will Smith has kept his son Trey in his life, as well as a good relationship with his ex-wife. Eventually, Jada accepted Sheree as an official family member and The Matrix actress later got a tattoo to represent all three of her children – Jaden, Willow, and Trey.

“It took 20-some years,” Jada Pinkett Smith said on her Red Table Talk show. “It was really a transformation for all of us, having a blended family and getting to a place where there was ease with it and having complete, utter acceptance. Sheree has acceptance for me and all my nonsense. I have acceptance for her and all her nonsense. There’s a real beautiful sisterhood there.”

Posing with Will Smith after his outburst at the 2022 Academy Awards, Sheree actually butted heads with comedian Chris Rock once before, after he commented on her Instagram page back in 2018.

When Will Smith commented “Happy Bday, @shereezampino. #BestBabyMamaEver! 🙂 I Love You, Ree-Ree,” on one of her birthday posts, Chris Rock reportedly wrote “Wow. You have a very understanding wife,” in return.

Sheree Zampino responded to the comedian at the time with a simple “Don’t hate.”
