Stacy Pentland Inspired Millions Before She Died

In an interview with the Chronicle Live, Stacey Pentland said she was diagnosed with lymphoma last April, when she visited her doctor after feeling pain in her back while mowing the lawn.

By the time doctors determined she was suffering from cancer, she told the outlet, the illness had already spread throughout her body — “my rectum, stomach, liver, lungs, lymph nodes, just all over.”

Pentland reportedly told the staff at St. Oswald’s Hospice, where she was receiving palliative care, that her initial reaction to the diagnosis was a numb shock. But when that wore off, Pentland said, she resolved to do something meaningful with her final months.

“I knew nothing about cancer, and so I wanted to raise awareness to others, and that’s when I started my daily video diaries on TikTok,” she said. “Everything started to blow up on social media and as a family we’ve had an unbelievable amount of support.”

“I started it because I felt unbelievably alone when I was diagnosed and I didn’t want anybody else to feel that way,” the 37-year-old told Chronicle Live. “Now I’ve had thousands of messages of support, people saying ‘because of you I went to the doctor, they found my cancer early.’”

In posting short videos that featured her family and documented her often-grueling treatment, Pentland cultivated a thriving community of supporters and well-wishers, many of whom told her they were battling cancer themselves.

She said she hoped to end the stigma around cancer discussions in hopes of making others who suffer with the illness feel more comfortable speaking publicly about their battles.

“From the beginning I’ve been really honest about my journey as there’s a lot people don’t talk about when it comes to cancer. It’s sometimes a taboo subject, so I want to show the hard times when I’ve been in a lot of pain,” the mother of four added.

Other fans of the TikTok mom said her courage in the face of terminal illness was an inspiration in their own battles with illness.

“She was a beautiful mum and an amazing advocate for us cancer patients,” one user said. “Thinking of her family.”

In the tragic final video posted to Pentland’s account before the announcement of her death, the 37-year-old appeared struggling to breathe. She told viewers she had just crawled up the stairs and into bed after making breafast for her husband.

She passed away only three days later.
