Stella Kabelis and Kailah Downie got more than they bargained for when they asked boxer Tyson Fury for a selfie.
According to a report in the The Sun, the women spotted the two-time heavyweight champion of the world at a restaurant in Manchester, England on Wednesday and approached him to ask for a picture.
Fury obliged, and parted ways with the pair — but not before exchanging numbers, an unidentified source told The Sun.
Stella posted the picture to Facebook with the caption, “Us and the Gypsy King,” referring to Tyson’s boxing nickname. Kailah later shared a selfie with the boxer on Instagram, writing: “Trust me to have no make-up on the day I meet Tyson Fury.”
But the brief encounter did little to foreshadow what happened next.
Stella Kabelis, Kailah Downie Went on Bender with Tyson Fury
According to the unnamed source in The Sun, the girls moved on after their encounter with Tyson Fury, heading to a nearby bar for some cocktails.
That’s when Tyson’s boxing coach Andy Lee reportedly sent Stella Kabelis and Kailah Downie a message on WhatsApp, asking if the pair were in the mood to grab dinner.
“I’m just having a drink in a bar,” Stella replied, per The Sun. “I’m not looking my best right now to be joining for dinner as I’m in my comfies. I’m heading home but I can get ready.”
“You look good to me,” Andy reportedly said.
The women gave in, and met Tyson and his coach at a Manchester bar. Social media posts reportedly showed the group partying for hours — busting moves on the dancefloor, knocking back shots and posing for selfies on a bender that lasted almost the whole night.
“Stella and Kailah were really starstruck and enjoyed a taste of the high life with him,” said The Sun’s unnamed source. “He was a perfect gentleman and they have been telling their friends what an amazing time they had. They think Tyson is great.”
“He’s a beast of a boxer, but out of the ring he’s a gentle, fun-loving guy,” the source added.
Later on, the group headed back to Stella and Kailah’s apartment, where they kept the party going. Tyson also called up his brother Tommy Fury, also a boxer and famous for his stint on reality TV show Love Island.
But at around 11:30 — about eight hours after running into the girls at a Manchester restaurant — Tyson Fury finally called it quits, The Sun reported, to go back home to his wife Paris and their six children.
The outlet’s source described Stella and Kailah as “normal hard-working girls” who “went out for a midweek drink and ended up doing shots and dancing with one of the world’s most famous sporting stars.”
“They were off work on Wednesday so they went shopping before heading for drinks,” the source reportedly said. “But in the afternoon they saw Tyson with his pal and started chatting with him.”
Tyson Fury — fresh off a win in his bout against Deontay Wilder last month — has reportedly been in a partying mood for weeks. But The Sun’s source said he especially enjoyed his rendezvous with Stella Kabelis and Kailah Downie.
“He really enjoyed being in the company of some down-to-earth girls,” the source said. “He might be heavyweight champion, but he’s a man of the people and likes to live as normal a life as possible.”
Tyson Fury is a Famously Colorful Character
The 33-year-old boxer has maintained a high-profile media presence throughout his career.
One famous episode saw Tyson roll up to a press conference in his Lamborghini, only to emerge wearing a Batman costume, to the delight of reporters.
In other instances, the boxer has drawn criticism for his comments about abortion, his comparison of homosexuality to bestiality, and his remarks in a 2016 interview which have been called antisemitic.
