Fortnite Streamer RaulZito was arrested in Brazil Tuesday after he allegedly raped two child actors. The Brazilian video game streamer, whose real name is Raulino de Oliveira Maciel, is accused of raping two children between the ages of 10 and 14, having promised the victims jobs at a TV station in exchange for sexual acts.
RaulZito was taken into custody in Florianopolis by Brazil’s Police of Child and Adolescent Victims. The department obtained a temporary arrest warrant, as well as search and seizure warrants. The police are currently searching RaulZito’s computer and social media accounts for evidence in the case, as well as information on other potential victims. According to reports, the Fortnite streamer used his Instagram profile to lure victims into the vile crime.
Raulino de Oliveira Maciel has streamed on Twitch for years, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers across multiple social media accounts. His online persona, RaulZito, also posts video game content on YouTube and Instagram. He is most popular for his Fortnite content, a game popular with young adults and children.
According to police, Maciel utilized his Internet clout to lure children into performing sexual acts. RaulZito apparently promised both victims a job at a major TV station in exchange for sexual favors and authorities are trying to determine if there were any more victims.
A police report was published on a Brazilian crime website on Tuesday. It said that “the team from the Police of Child and Adolescent Victims (DCAV) arrested a video game YouTuber accused of vulnerable rape against two children. The action was in fulfillment of a temporary arrest warrant. It was located in Florianopolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, this Tuesday.”
One of the victims’ mothers made the initial claim to police, revealing that her son had suffered abuse from the Twitch streamer. She said the incidents took place between February and May of this year, though the specifics have not been revealed by police.
Police also detailed a second report. A child, who was described as under 12 years old, also allegedly suffered sexual abuse. One case reportedly took place in Niteroi and the other allegedly occurred in Sao Caetano do Sul, in Sao Paulo. Neither child was identified by name, though they were said to be between the ages of 10 and 14.
RaulZito’s team, SBT Games, released a statement on Twitter regarding the allegations. SBT Games claimed to have removed the Fortnite streamer from the company and that it “awaits the elucidation of the facts and result of the investigation” before making any further judgments.
RaulZito has made a successful career out of streaming video games like Fortnite. According to his Twitch schedule, he last streamed two days ago. He usually streams every day, averaging around 11,000 views during each one of his 8-10-hour sessions. The Fortnite streamer has more than 117,000 followers on Twitch and 144,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Fans pointed out that the Fortnite streamers made several comments during his streams, claiming to have played with “young talents” online. In his YouTube channel description, Raulino de Oliveira Maciel said he works with “several child talents” and makes “the content you can put on the living room TV for everyone to see.”
Many fans on Twitter also pointed out the Maciel was notorious for engaging with children throughout his career. One user posted pictures of the Fortnite streamer with children who appeared to be under 14 years old. He posed with his arms around the young boys in some of the pictures. One Twitter user said that “we should’ve seen this coming,” pointing out that Maciel liked playing a kids game, had a pink beard, and sported blue hair.
