Tim Stokely announced that he has stepped down from his position as CEO of OnlyFans and will be moving on to different endeavors. The company announced that he will be appointing Amrapali “Ami” Gan to take his place.

Ami Gan previously worked for the company as their chief marketing and communications officer and according to Stokely, he believes Gan will do an amazing job in leading the platform.

OnlyFans released a statement on Tuesday and said, “Gan will assume the day-to-day leadership of the Company from Tim Stokely, who will be stepping down to pursue new endeavors. Stokely has led the company for the last five years and appointed Gan to continue the company’s growth and drive its vision and commitment to empowering creators.”

The former CEO has not said what the future endeavors will be.

According to Stokely, Ami Gan has worked beside him to grow the company since 2020. The former CEO said that she has the drive and fresh ideas to take OnlyFans to the next level.

He said, “Ami has a deep passion for OnlyFans’ business and I’m passing the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organization reach its tremendous potential,” Stokely said in a statement. “OnlyFans is still a new company and Ami brings a fresh energy and reflects who we are as a business.”

While Tim Stokely is resigning from the CEO position, he will stay on in an advisory position. According to the statement made by the company, Stokely will help the platform transition during the leadership change.

Many people on Twitter are happy with the appointment of Ami Gan as CEO. Some pointed out that it is rare for a marketing and communications officer to be given the head position. One person tweeted, “Here’s a move you don’t see too often: chief spokesperson => chief executive officer.”

Before working with OnlyFans, Gan worked in marketing for a variety of different companies, including Red Bull, Quest Nutrition, and a cannabis cafe. The future CEO said that she is excited for the new position and already has ideas about how to change the company.

She said that she wants to invest more resources into OFTV, which is the OnlyFans’ streaming app, and she also wants to create more tools for creators.

In her own statement, she said, “I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximize control over, and monetize, their content.”

OnlyFans became very popular over the last year with adult content creators. During the Covid-19 pandemic, OnlyFans offered a safe platform for sex workers when their in-person business became too dangerous. In Aug. 2021, the company was scheduled to do over $2.5 billion in sales for the year, which was about $1.2 billion higher than last year.

While the platform is popular for being a safe space for sex workers, many adult content creators are still worried. In October, the company announced that it would be banning all sexually explicit content from its platform.

They said, “Effective 1 October 2021, OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually-explicit conduct. In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines. Creators will continue to be allowed to post content containing nudity as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy.”

Following the announcement, OnlyFans received backlash about its decision, and Tim Stokely quickly reversed the ban. Despite the change, some sex workers are still worried that the new leadership will reinforce the ban and change their livelihood.
